Hey Michael! you are correct. The Custom Grande Gold is more of a Matte Finish..  I really don't like the Matte look. but, its New. and I already have two Giant Bases and a couple of Heritage Grandes..  I wish lavalamp.com would step their Game up in their creative design area.  I know there are members here on OZ that would love to  create solid master pieces of Lava if given the opportunity!!

Very nice! I notice the gold base on the custom Grande is not quite as bright as the 50th Grande's finish, is this the case or is it just the lighting? The custom has more of a matte look.
