They might as well sell do-it-yourself lava kits, empty bottle, spring, base and let the consumer buy the goo elsewhere.

It is ok, I knew I was going to goo kit the thing when I ordered.  Sadly that is the current state of the lava lamps from china.

Brand new out of the box looked like that - arrived FedEx last Thursday from Spencer, in the photo it has never been turned on.  I ran it for half a day, popped the lid, dumped it and installed a goo kit.

The date on the lid is from 2010.  It is ok for me, I  ordered with the intent of Goo Kitting this lamp.  So no big deal for me, but I am sure others receive a lamp like this and are pretty upset.
