This dye comes in a dropper bottle, I believe an oil based pigment. I managed to catch a small floating blob of wax that was stuck to the surface of the water. I added a single drop to this tiny wax glob and then siphoned it into a straw (think skewering the wax with the straw then blocking the other end of the straw with a finger as to hold the wax inside). I then slowly brought the siphoned wax down deeper into the globe, poked it into a large floating blob and released my finger. Essentially injecting it into the larger blob.

I was kicking myself for not having the camera at the ready...After I got the wax injected into one main blob the lamp had this awesome two color lava flowing. All the main blobs were white while one blob slowly descended as a brilliant cobalt blue. Right when I readied the camera that solo blue blob hit the coil and introduced color chaos to the entire wax column.

I'm a bit hesitant myself Nick but so want a true purple Astro.

How do you add the dye into the formula ?

Thanks Pete!  I bet if you added a drop/half drop it would bloom out to a nice purple!

I have the clear/pink Astro but am hesitant to tamper with it since they are not as easy to come by over on this side of the water!

Very nice Nick... I wonder if a drop would turn a Mathmos clear/pink to purple !

That could turn out nice Carol! You will get a dropper bottle of dye to last a lifetime from them, good stuff!

for Friday Keith! I am talking it up but I believe I found an add on that hasn't been used yet, should play well and will hopefully add some awesome-sauce. If not, I will either have an oddity lamp or straight ruined lamp.

Don't worry Vox, another plus with the kits...if you screw up, you can also do a regoo redo!!!  lol!!!  If you miscolor the wax you can always make it black by just dumping a bunch of off colors in and see what you come up with!!  I know members who have gotten the coolest colors from an oopsie!!  Just like my yellow/red.  It had the streaks, didn't like the more orangeish color of the wax so I did a regoo redo...........can't wait to see the "surprise" creation!!!!

I did end up using the liquid candle dye we had from candle making, made by Peak Candle Supply.  Worked WONDERFULLY and only took a drop!

I ended up getting a bit of the dye on the lip of the bottle too. This dribbled down and deepened the color later in the night. I have something arriving on Friday that may up the wax game big time.  I will post updates and pictures if it is successful, don't need to misinform if it destroys everything, haha! ;)
