Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I found this today at Bookmans, for $2!! The price tag said $12, and it wasn't until later when I was checking the receipt that I noticed the guy only charged me $2 for it! The lava looks chunky or shot, but I'll see how it runs. It's a 1997 purple/blue.

Thanks! Yea I bought some other items with it and the price was much different than I calculated before buying, but I didn't even realize. It's certainly the cheapest lava lamp I've ever scored! Lol! And yep, the lamp flows just fine! No chunks in it at all, and it doesn't over heat. I'm very happy, because my very first midnight, and my 3rd ever lava lamp (in 2005) was a blue and purple. It had the lava logo stamped on the base. It's now faded clear and over heats even on a 25 watt bulb. So I'm gonna replace that globe with this one :) I love the blue/purple combo, and this one does seem lighter in color than normal ones but I like it too, the wax is much more visible than usual.

The wax should be fine.  I have bought several lamps where the wax looked like that and never had a problem.

Nice score Ian! Pretty cool it was a bank error in your favor with the sale too! I also had recently picked up a purple/blue Silverstreak, missing top cap, at thrift for $5. I like the shade of blue in yours a bit better, mine is pretty dark making it hard to see the purple wax. That and the globe is LOADED with bubbles! I cleared them off the Midnight photo I posted to see what it looked like with a flawless globe
