Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Got lucky and scored this on eBay for pretty cheap! I've been after an "Elegant" style lamp for awhile, but never expected to see one of these come up for sale.

From the Lava Library (Jonas):
The Glitter Lite (introduced Jan. 1, 1969)
"Twinkling, sparkling, scintillating Glitter Lite - like bits of tinted starlight floating in a brilliant sky! Glitter Lite provides light, motion and brilliant sparkling color. Everchanging, constant action...starts within two minutes. Makes a remarkable conversation piece with unlimited possibilities"
Glitter Lite was the first glitter lamp known to be made in the US, and used a thick, oily liquid. The glitter was extremely fine, like metallic dust, and moved slowly. In operation, the effect is very subtle, but captivating once noticed.

Oh, I'm not touching it! There's no way I would try and get the lid off!

Erin, leave it alone without using it for a month or so and it'll settle out. They do, it just takes a while.

Erin I have one of these too and mine has the ribbed lid. It won't come off either and I won't mess with it....not worth it. The lamp contents are fine so leave the top.

Well done Jonas for your great knowledge and input as always. Great lamp always displaying. I like lamps like that!

You can barely tell the lamp is operating when it's on. Very slow moving liquid. Also, as of now, when it's off, the flakes never settle - they are always suspended in the liquid.

She is one sexy lamp!!!  Congrats!!!

I thought it was probably the same slow liquid as Florence, Mastercrafters, and Heat Tapes, Jonas.  Thanks for confirming.

Some "Elegant" Enchantresses had simple plastic caps with a narrow vertical fluting or reeding that catalogs described as "striated." Others, including most of the Enchantress Glitterlites I've seen (despite the plastic cap being gold on Lava Lites and silver on Glitterlites) had a metal cap glued onto the plastic cap. Mine has come unglued and can be removed to see the plastic one.

Either way, these are quite rare, and I hope you love it! They're the same liquid as a Florence Art, but with aluminum dust instead of leaf foil. I always wondered how they decided on colors for these; they only came in gold, silver and emerald liquid.

Awesome find! I saw that listing, such a cool shape. As always, your photography is on point. :)
