Is it normal for mathmos lamps to cloud up over time like this? I got the lamp on the right late november and it has gotten this bad and I havnt even ran it 15 times.

Well for us americans mathmos wont issue replacements. Electric planet had to eat the cost of a replacement bottle and send it to me. Mathmos wouldnt even reply to my emails. My new fluidium globe is already starting to cloud up.

I think its a problem that occurs especially with the purple wax as it has much more dye in it and it might even have been a problem that got fixed meanwhile...at least I hope so. I will deffo give it another chance as I am speaking of bottles I got about 8 month ago and my smart is still clear although I only ran it 5 times or so. Anyway, I still hope for the best but I still have to say I liked the old formula better. Just running a purple jet they made for me and when I have the lights inmy room on its clear but when its dark its quite cloudy....and for some reason is barely flows at all....anyway, I dont wanne talk bad of mathmos all the time...they still make the best lamps IMO.

Richard why? to get another bottle which doesnt fit my lunar base properly and goes cloudy within 10 times? Will rather use gookits or old proper bottles for my lunar.

I bought a slightly cloudy green fluidium on ebay over a year ago and it never ever cleared up. But I have 2 custom lunar bottles which were new within 2 years and are crystal clear.

I would say its something more inherrant with fluidiums, but not having bought a brand new Mathmos bottle within the last year its hard to say.

I would be very upset if I forked out for another custom lunar bottle and it went cloudy, so i'd be interested to hear if anyone else has had this problem recently

It seems like the new formula they have been using for some time now tends to cloud up. I had globes which were 10 - 20 years old but crystal clear, I have even shaken one when hot and it became clear again, but not a single bottle from the ones I have bought new stayed clear for more than 10 runs. I paid 160 euros for a custom purple lunar and after the second run...cloudy...never overheated. I think its very sad....they should change back to the old formula, even if it costs a few pennys more...maybe I would dare to by a new lamp then.

I've had hazy fluidiums, They have never cleared up.

But I've also run my fludiums for hours without them hazing up like that.

I've never been able to get the hazy fluidium to clear up.

I have never ran the lamp for more than 6 hours and I have been using a 40 watt bulb with the lamp. It does have some liquid bubbles in the wax sometimes which may be from getting too hot. I have tried a 30 watt bulb and it wont flow it that so I am not sure what to do if it is overheating.
