Spencer's Red/Clear

Picked this up at Spencer's last week for $20. The lava was translucent and almost pink at first, which I did not like. It has turned more opaque after a few days of cycling, but still not as dark as I was hoping. The fluid was slightly cloudy but has cleared except for some debris - flakes of wax perhaps? I may still open it up and filter the 'water.'

Comment by Sean C. on January 31, 2010 at 10:01pm: Now wait a minute, what's the answer? Is it old stock (ie. better) or is it the new stuff that everyone complains about? My Spencer's has quite a few; if this is something I need to grab up before it's gone forever, let me know.

BTW, the lamp overheats after about 3 hours if left on full power. I rigged a dimmer temporarily and have been running it for several hours now, cycling perfectly. It seems to be a good lamp. After I took the picture above, I filtered the liquid to remove some floating particles, but there is still a slight haze when the light is on. I realize now what that haze is: the inside of the globe is dirty! If I get antsy one day, I may empty it entirely and clean the globe out real good. Otherwise, fluid is clear, lava flows well. I guess I got lucky.

Comment by Sean C. on January 31, 2010 at 8:30am: Here's a picture of the box. It says Lava World International. Does that answer the question? I didn't know there were differences between Lava World and Lava Lite.
