I've never had a reveal bulb last more than a week.  I think they can't handle the enclosed heat.

I kinda figured the highlighter would be a bunk idea, maybe I will order some UV from MT if they do good on their short dye pack and leaked surf.

I was just at Home Depot to get the 60w and an a15 black light bulb in that power is non existent. I did get 60w GE Reveal bulbs that seem to cast a much whiter light so that may sharpen the tux up a bit! I agree with Keith, an incandescant black light is useless and not uniform in output at all. Fluorescent or CFL is a real black light with uniform color and output, have not experienced LED versions but guess they might be on point too.

MAN, that is a sweet swag lamp Keith!  I would like to just have one period! The UV string would be insane in a dark room!

I had one of these back in the day with an incandescent "blacklight" bulb, would love to have one now with UV reactive "string" and a compact florescent blacklight bulb!

an incandescent "blacklight" bulb doesn't give a good effect, but it would provide heat, although maybe not enough.  A florescent bulb in the base would not work out because of space and it would not provide enough directed heat to the globe.

Vox, per other OG''ers you can only use highlighter ink if its the metallic.... But mt does sell flourescent dye!!! That would look awesome!! I was thinking of ordering that myself and fetting a 60 blacklight from spirit of halloween!!

OoOo, very cool Keith! I had seen that lunar grande blob he captured, very cool. I think an outside UV route is the way to go with the 32 as I am not seeing an a15 bulb ever being made in black light, plus I have a huge ballast black light that needs to be used!

MT makes a UV dye for the wax, check DR Whats pics.  He uses a reptile heat lamp with an UV florescent from the outside.

I will get a shot of the cap tonight. Oh, I may swing by the lgiht bulb nerd shop here and see if they have a 40-60w a15 blacklight bulb!  THAT would be cool to run it under UV, anyone have success in adding highlighter ink to wax to make it pop?  I think highlighters are water based so I bet it only dances with the water...
