Profile Information

My First Lava Lamp was:: 1971. I'm 14 years old and thoroughly entranced with the pungent strawberry-frangipani-patchouli aroma wafting out of the dark and probably forbidden mall gift shop, Little Pleasures Boutique.

Black walls, beaded curtains everywhere, many, many candles, tons of incense, essential oils, an "adult gifts and novelties" section comprised of very tame gag gifts, and in the back, the holy of holies: the blacklight section filled with posters and lit only with blacklights, spinning "LOVE" lamps and... Lava Lites™!!

Probably lost in a move many decades ago, the one I went home with had a gold base, red goo and amber liquid.

Back home, I'm burning strawberry incense, listening to In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, and watching the goo.

@LavaMeister, Little Pleasures went under a few years later and in fact became a Spencer's. Boy has Spencer's changed over the years!
