Something Interesting About Me:
Just a lady who digs Lava lamps - loved them since I was a kid in the 1960's but never got around to owning one of my own till now. I'm in the process of collecting info and materials to make my own (or a decent experimental attempt).
My First Lava Lamp was:
My "first lava love" was not my own. It was a Century model, blue & green or blue & yellow I think. It belonged to our next door neighbors, and it sat on their TV set. This was in the late 1960's. I looked forward to babysitting the neighbor's kids so I could sit and watch that darned thing (and the kids) all night long!

I see so many used lava lamps for sale at thrift stores, e-bay, ect - but they are always missing the top caps! Is there any source for buying just the top pieces that I don't know about? Anyone out there in Lavaland who has any top pieces for sale or trade or whatever? And also, I have a lava lamp globe in which the lava has separated into two different components. One part of it floats on top of the water, One part always stays on the bottom. When the stuff is cold, both parts are solid. When… Continue

Hi Trish:

Good to see you on the Goo. I'm like you in that I wish to try my hand at making my own lamp. What little I know is this. Goo Kits are available to simply refill the globes with lava and add distilled water from www.gookits.com. Playing with goo can get dangerous considering the heat, pressure and glass. Be careful! There is a 'Goo Kit Conversion' group here as well. I just became a member of it. Maybe there will be a lot of tips there as time goes on. Have a great day out there!
