well i tried adding glitter to a lava lamp and it didnt work, now im thinking what if i add wax to a glitter bottle, would this work?

No, the fluids used in glitter lamps are so completely different in content and density etc to lava lamps, that it is nigh on impossible to make your own "glitterball".
I've made one. Not kidding. It was an alcohol lamp, I sold it to a friend. I didn't use glitter, instead I used some aluminum powder. By the time I was done screwing with it, the dust had formed into flakes in the wax and 'looked' like glitter. I can make a vid if you don't believe me.

I think it has to do with the size of the grains, the quality of the wax, and the type of surfactant used. Soap is a bad idea. I've been experimenting lately, and will post a vid of my latest attempt at a metallic lamp. Which might turn into a 'Glitterball' like last time. It may be a week or so before I have the time. I will follow up on this thread though.
