Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

One of my Astro bases seems to be running colder than the rest, I have tried different bottle on it and used several makes of bulbs to no avail, any ideas what could be causing this? It seems that there is not enough power getting to the bulb or something, just bought a new Astro and cant afford a new base this close to Santa coming, so a fix would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe the base is slightly bent and letting some heat out where the bottle sits. One of my telstars is a bit like that.
Look at all the electrical points of contact. See if there are any dark spots, check the plug fuse.
I suppose if it's a more recent base you could swap out the electricals with another lamp and check it's not a malformed base issue.
I am using a 60w as a temporary fix, judging the heat up along side my turquoise, it seems to be running fine now. i have checked the base and cable and they seem OK,
I have already been in touch with Mathmos to see if they would sell me just a cable, but it was a no. :(

Shane Mahony said he would send me his spare cable tho! YAY.

Might get a new base after Christmas, We shall see.
Nah, I have tried it on other bases and it flows fine. I know it has something to do with the base. I am quite content at the moment with the 60w bulb in it, in the new year, i might try and rewire it.
Do you think it could be a solder connection problem?
