That fiber optic is not original to that lamp. It makes no sense to be up there. Nor does it light up. Looks like someone stuck in there. Probably what's suppose to be up there is a hook for hanging the light.
I think that fiber unit *is* original, though. The flat bottom means it's made as a table model rain lamp, and the finish matches. I think the light in the top is probably just burned out. As it's in good shape, I'd say anyone who likes both fiber and rain lamps should grab it. NEVER seen any rain lamp from Australia - seen a very few from the UK, one from France, a few from Italy and one from Mexico.
Pass it my way, then! I love fiber optics and I love rain lamps! I'd remove the statue, though - in many cases I like the kitschy look, but here it'd be more elegant with only the rotating, color-shifting fibers and the vertical, illuminated slow-motion falling raindrops.
