Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Okay, so, I have an Alladin that looks pretty crappy.  It's not pitted, there's just spots of crud on the base.  What's the best stuff to use to clean it that won't change the color or damage the base?  Cheers!  Kelly.

Steel wool should do it.
Depends on what the stain is. You should be able to find polish cleaner made specifically for aluminum if normal wiping won't remove the stain.
Try wrapping a wet towel around the top of it so it soaks into the stains hopefully loosening them up. You could also try paste wax and dab it into the stain to let it soften.

I was thinking the same thing too Bohdan, it could be the clear coat failing...popping from underneath.

I'm afraid you guys might be right. It doesn't feel like it's crud really, it feels like it's chipping clear coat. It'll be an interesting project. Any suggestions for how best to refinish it? I kinda want to keep it as it's the larger Alladin. Looks great with my smaller one (even if the finish is crappy).
