NEW colors in 52oz. spotted at local Spencer Gifts

Hey guys, just got home from the mall, thought you all might like to know Spencer's has two new color combos available in 52oz. The first is a pink and clear with a silver base, and the second is what caught my eye, a black based, black lava with orange liquid... Didn't have time to snap a pic, but I thought I'd give everyone a heads up.

The surfactant is actually a "anti foam" product for PPG.

I like the chem lesson! I didn't get a chance to take chemistry in high school, so your information was very interesting!
Too bad LW will never bother to fix the problem :(
I like how the launch date is 2010....which is almost half over already.
I liked the black/orange so much I went to get one and ended up with the new pink/clear and lime/clear too. Everything looked good out of the tubes, all the bottles were clear. The pink/clear flows almost like the original lavas, the lime/clear is flowing fast and the black/orange is flowing at a average speed. Just as Dr What said, my black/orange globe had some wax marks on the glass but at this point 90% of them are gone already. They were running just over 5 hours when I took these pics

The wax color is solid in all of them, no translucent look...the pink was slightly translucent at start up but went solid after 2 or 3 hours. The guy at Spencers said they had 12 black/orange and I bought the 11th, there was only 1 left on the shelf ( Louis Joliet Mall ).

They removed the blog link, too... hmmmmm.

Yeah... my new black 52 oz is beginning to clear a bit, but really my green clear is my only successful china out of the box of the 7-8 that I have bought new
Got the pink/clear at Spencer's yesterday. (Yet another childish impulse buy...whoever did the market research on the 19.99 price point really hit the spot).

As it now warms up in my office, it is a bit cloudy. Further news as it develops.
Day 3 so far they are holding their own...

Damn it! I went to my local Spencers today to get an orange/black. I really wanted it. Of course they didn't have it... of course the girl had no clue about them or any lava lamps. She thought the clear/green was white liquid/green lava.

We went and asked the (very young) manager if #1: I could open the clear/green to see if it was clear and #2: Ask about the orange/blacks. This guy said that they haven't made them in years. I said they were a new color combo and he just babbled. He said if they ever get them it'll be in a long time. Idiots.

I guess I'll try another Spencers... there's 3 within a reasonable distance.

The clear/green was slightly cloudy at the store (not much, just not perfectly clear) and is on right now but is still "erupting" so I'll have to see later how it flows and see how clear it is.
I got the same problem w/a green/clear and the pinkish red/clear... it cleared a bit, but I can still tell the difference between it and the USA clears which are truly crystal clear.

But these are less foggy than than the clear 20 oz I have, so I consider it an improvement. Seeing the $$ you gotta pay for a 52oz on Ebay makes that 19.99 price point a good one for suckers like me.

You know, the new Orange Black is just ok. It's more of a Halloween only color combo...
Hi Bodhan, do you know where I can find one ? I'm a big fan of Mathmos lava but they don't have suc combo colors (and that's a shame!!!). It's been years I wanted a great clear/black one...
It is such a shame they have flooded the market in the UK. I own 5 Mathmos lamps and the flow is so different! I have 3 china lamps a 14.5 yellow/blue combo that keeps flying off its coil and 2 8oz lamps a white/blue and a yellow/blue that flow surprisingly well.

Would be nice if they started better quality control, but I suppose it would be many years before we seen the better lamps over here.

Will someday buy a Grande and a goo kit and have a great evening in. :)
