Anyone re-wired a Mathomos Jet?

I've got a plug converter (this kind: http://www.amazon.com/International-Power-Adapter-Plug-Converter/dp...) and I was just going to plug it in, but I dropped the base and the bulb doesn't work now.

If I re-wire, how does the base come out? I see there are two clips on the underside holding the socket it, but it looks like those would break if I tried to take it out that way.

If I want to just keep it as-is, where in the US would I get bulbs for this? And if I re-wire for the US, what wattage bulb would I run?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

I want to run this lamp but can't!!!

That bulb would make me uncomfortable.
I would try acquiring a reflector style bulb.

Well, after running this for a bit, it gets pretty hot. I took it apart and the hot glue remelted a little. Not entirely though. The socket and plastic base are still intact.

Might be better on a dimmer, too.
Try using an epoxy, it shouldnt melt.
What makes you uncomfortable about it?

I am going to try and get a reflector bulb as soon as possible.

Thanks for the tip Rob.

Heat on the sides of the bulb towards the plastic. Take a pic facing down showing the bulb and it's proximity to the sides.
It was a concern I had with my rewire a while back.
Only thing is I used a shorty reflector in a standard base. Since the standard base was very wide it was close to the edge, but it also is ceramic so It was able to absorb the heat. The reflector bulb also projected the light and heat upwards instead of outwards.
Here's a pic:

It's moved some to the side since the hot glue re-melted.

Yeah weebo is right. If you dont use a reflector bulb the base may get damaged.

especially if it's glued and you've already noticed it has moved. It's recipe for a fire.

Because you had to glue it for stability, noticed it moved and now see how close it is to the plastic, I'm a bit concerned.
Never leave it running unattended. Don't go to sleep with it on.
Ok, duly noted. I'll get a different bulb tomorrow. FYI, I never leave my lamps unattended though.
Again with the funniness. :)

Ok, the tape and glue have melted. :( Looks like I need to find that piece, Autumn. Or try Epoxy.

I would not run the lamp anymore with that conversion, electricity is the last thing you want to mess with. You also could damage the base by melting it with that wattage bulb without a dimmer. Let me know if your still working on this lamp and I will post up a safe and proper fix tomorrow, there are several options available.

And that was the last time anybody ever heard from Erin... Some say her ghost still haunts the area where her house was before it burned down.
