I suggest you just hang out on Flebay.
I just picked up a like new old LL for only $15.00, but that was shear luck, most of these originals go for big bucks.
Seems like as us 50's baby boomers get older, richer, and more sentimental about the good old daze, all things
"retro" are back in style and are not consider junk like they were in the 80's when lava lamps enjoyed a surge of
popularity with the college kid crowd :)
I am doing the same with one of my worthlessly cloudy Grande's.
Someone posted a pic of his Ice blue fluorescent Grande he hadnt even capped it yet, still burping, but it
looks GREAT (you have probably seen the pic).
So I want to do one just like it.
He said he used a whole tub of fluoresent blue, plus a dime size piece of regular blue.
So I have some fluorescent blue (and green) on order :)
When I do my project, I am going to replace the cheap coil they put in these with a better grade stainless steel
spring coil which I can order from McMaster-Carr.
It's so sad that LL is having these made so cheaply these days that the customer has to modify them :(
Shamefull!!! just shamefull
