I thought it might be fun to tell about any lucky finds.
Here's mine, It was'nt exactly a find though.
A close friend works in a hospice charity shop, a lava lamp was donated but they're not licenced to sell electrical goods and it was going in the trash. She knew of my 'habit' and rescued it for me. It was a cloudy grimy old yellow Hunter. I cleaned it up and replaced the fluid with distilled water, did a bit of tweaking with salt and kids bubble liquid and got it flowing pretty well (as well as Hunters flow anyway).
Shame it was'nt a Crestworth Rocket !

I found a blue anodised telstar at a bootsale once...5 euros
found a buy it now lunar base and cap on ebay once...80 euros
found a store with some series one fluidiums and got a boxed new opal for 70 euros, sold it one ebay for 250
also a bootsale find - a never used boxed and sealed green blue jet for 3 euros and the list goes on...but also I paid way over the top for some items like a re anodised (found out later) red sputnik for 150 pound and many things I dont remember, but I know I was mad sometimes about 2 years ago.
I was scanning ebay at one time and scored an aladdin for only $25 bin
I recently got a boxed crestworth rocket for £20 that was on a BIN
Opal fluidium for £25
Crestworth phantomlite for £10
Crestworth telstar for £6
LL wave machine (boxed) for £4
Astro red metallic for £9 (auction believe it or not)
2 lunars for £150 each
Astrobaby for £1 from a car boot sale
The list goes on and on........

I think the Astro baby or Mini Astro as I remember them was Crestworths master stroke. Much more affordable, very elegant, and they warm up quicker than the Astrolamps. great for a quick fix if you know what I mean !
