I saw that, I wonder why they are selling it. After sending our three back, I'm waiting until they've been out for a couple of years before we purchase anymore.

Alright - who outbid us??

LOL

Damn - thought we'd get it at £75 but never mind - we'll wait and buy a new one from Mathmos when they come back out.

So - was the eventual price of £77 a good price or was it a bargain?

Not a bargain really, they were originally £85 each including post and packing and if you bought direct from Mathmos you would have the warranty.
LOL, this is my lamp! I had some very high offers over E mail for international buyers. Problem is the final guy who won lives in Austria when this is only a UK auction! I'll have a look at postage etc and see if its worth sending, if mot I will second chance it, that would mean you Chris!

Oh heck!

Looks as if we'll have to fork out some cash - thank heavens its my missus's money and not mine! LOL

Be glad to take it on Paul - so long as a) you can provide a 12 month guarantee or b) you promise to keep praying that it'll continue to work  for us!

Nah - only kidding - but does anyone know what a new heater unit or whatever's needed if or when it goes wrong costs?

As far as I know you cannot buy a new heating plate, you would need a full new base and they are not back in production as yet. Worth checking with Mathmos though.

Cheerful news Susan - but thanks. P

Not as yet being the owner of this or any other 'Smart' Mathmos lava lamp I haven't bothered to do so but I will ask them because one of our main sources of lava lamps is boot sales - and you can pretty well guarantee that any 'Smart' lamps from such places will be defective.
(Not that we've ever seen such a thing at a boot sale - yet!!)

Does anyone have any 'inside' information as to when Mathmos will resume production?

Their website only asks you to sign-up to be informed about their new production run....no dates offered....

Does the same limitation apply to spare parts?

*Probably an email to Mathmos would give me the answers....but you lot may already have been there!

Sorry Chris :)

The best people to ask about future production of the smarts and available parts is Mathmos themselves. Give them a call, they are very helpful.

Someone on here said they thought the next batch might be this February but, personally I don't know. I'm registered with Mathmos to get the update of the next release of the Smarts, I've not heard anything as yet.

I am wondering that too.

Didnt these just come out last year?

Yes, our first two were sent out in the first week of December last year. I'd ordered two of them on a pre-order and payed for them back in the middle of September.

Hey Chris, the next issue of the smarts will be released september - october. My smart was defective too and I have called and they sent me a replacement (should arrive tomorrow or wednesday) even though I told them I had it from another website who sold them and not directly from mathmos...maybe they repaired the defective ones which came back and send them out as replacement. Strangely mine is now working again, so I will have to find out what it was and if it stays well, maybe send the replacement back as I would feel like a thief...and I bet the second I posted it back mine goes POP again, lol....HAVE to find out what the problem was...was thinking they dont like powercords, but now it works well with a powercord...we'll see...
