replacement lamp

FINALLY received the replacement lamp for the very cloudy one I got for Christmas. The ice in the midwest had them way backed up.

 

Anyway, it looks like the liquid is clear, but the globe is covered in very tiny bits of lava. It's only been on the power for 10 minutes or so, so I should know by time to go home if it looks like it's running good or not.

 

I thought I had a handle on the cap codes, but this one I'm not sure of.

Actually, I think the dots on the glass are the paint spray, looking closer at it as it warms up. It's a "tri-color" lamp that's supposed to look green on the bottom, blue in the middle, and red on top. Not what I would have chosen, but it was a gift, so..

 

It's at the state where it's got an initial column all the way to the top. The liquid has a very light amount of fog to it, not the murk of the first one, so I'm hoping it'll clear as it goes.

Looks like it's flowing about the same as my purple/yellow. Lava is currently very translucent, as expected for first run. Hopefully the fluid will settle out to more clear, and we'll be good.

The flow does appear to be about the same as my purple/yellow, quicker to get started (at least so far..)

 

What I have discovered is that rather than the liquid being cloudy, it's actually the paint on the globe that's cloudy. Holding it up in front of the light from the rest of the office you can see right through it, but on my desk in our little unlit alcove section of the office, it looks all murky. Maybe once the lava loses its transparency it will look better, but I dunno. It definately does not look like the gem-like colors on the box. You can't even tell the middle section is blue.

 

Has anyone else ever seen these? Are they all like this?

Mine looks nothing like that.Can't even tell there's any blue on the bottle at all, just a real messy green spray job on the bottom and real messy red spray job on the top. The picture I posted of holding it up to the light has it just right so you can sort of see the middle should be blue, but other than that, it's just light green merging to red.
