Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

When the wax warms up it starts to flow to the top and just stay there and not flow down. All of  It separates from the coil. I'm using a 25 watt R-14 bulb. I have melted the wax with a hair dryer and tried to swirl the wax down to the coil but it won't reconnect.

Can you post some pictures of it in action so some of the experts can see exactly what it is doing, notes with the amount of time it has been running help quite a bit to see how fast it happens

I did post a picture, it's under the attachments. Right when it starts to melt , it flows to the top and stays there.

I hate to tell you this but the lamp is dead. I suggest refilling it with another lamp. I bet refilling it with a USA made lava lite globe would look stunning due to the size of the lamp. There is a lot of information about refilling and mixing here.

Yea Autunm's right its probably had it, but refilling it with a USA globe would look really cool.

How long have you had the lamp for and how long have you been running it for?

Also where did you find this lamp - i haven't seen this before and am interested in the back history of it (I am a sucker for promotional lamps etc).

I got it off eBay last week.

What if I replace some of the fluid with distilled water?

Southern Comfort Lava Lamp

This is on Craigslist for $38, but to far from me.

It could work but another option would be to replace the water with distilled water and add some pure salts (e.g. picking salts or Epsom salts) to get it to flow but if it doesn't or clouds the water then the wax is dead and it will need a lamp transfer.
