Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Hello all,

In the easter holidays, I will be going to England.  Just want to ask, if i put all my packed up lava lamps, marked with fragile, into a luggage, and then putting it into the storages in the airplane, will I end up with a broken/cloudy/shattered/(insert horrible stuff that can happen to a lava lamp) lava lamp?

Thanks,

Anson

Into a luggage on a plane, are you serious?

They play football with them :-)

Try packing your lamps into carry-on luggage, and be with them at all times. Like Astralav said, football will be played with your luggage. And whether it's soccer or American football, there won't be a good outcome.

Yes,

touchdown or goal will get the same result!

Agreed. I've seen airport baggage handling staff in operation. It's not a pretty sight. Bunch of union Neanderthals.

They're more careless than postal employees (and that's saying a lot!).

I think they must take special training on how to reduce your prized possesions to rubble.

I can't take them with me, there's way too much liquid...

That's right, I forgot, you can only have like 4oz. of liquid with you. Thanks to the cowardice swines on 9-11, you can't fly like a civilized human being anymore.

Any other options?

Package them really, really, really well!!!!

What kinda lamps are you getting, I am guessing Mathmos but are you going to get them from Mathmos - therefor they will be in there good packaging boxes so if you pack these boxes into one big sturdy one then this could work.

If your not getting them direct from mathmos and from Ebay (i.e. second hand) then all I can say is package them fantasticly well.

I have some advice form another member of packaging a lunar - PM me for this.

I definitely agree with Tim. If these lamps are actually coming from Mathmos, in its original packaging, then it will be packed nicely. But I would still pad the heck out of your suitcase, around the Mathmos boxes. Cross all fingers, arms, legs, toes and anything else you can cross for good luck and hope for the best.

I wouldn't put them in a sute case at all - when your in the UK get a plastic storage box, put the boxes in there and pad it out so they don't move around, seal the box and send it back like that.

Also it would be a idea to cover the inside of the box so no one has a idea of what's inside as you don't want it being nicked.

Lol, the problem is, if I pack it tightly, they'll suspect even more!
And also I've heard that they rip open questionable goods to check of it's a contraband, only put together with ropes and duct tape afterwards.
