Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I asked my perfectionist Dad to paint my silver bases black.

Wanting to do the best possible job, he removed felt from bottoms.

What type of glue should I use to re-attach?

Thanks So Much!

I'm just guessing here, but maybe a white Elmers glue. I have re-felted many pool tables in the past and used the 3M super 77 glue to adhere the felt to the slate. If you use this glue, use it sparingly.

I understand why he removed the felt but its not nessary when painting the lamp - i cover it over with PVC tape and then cut the excess off before I paint - then remove the tape and the felt is paint free and fine.

Thanks guys I'll pass this info on.  Much appreciated!

I would use Elmer's or craft glue. Either should work! When the felt needs to be replaced, I have bought that felt that has a sticky side and used that.

Thanks Erin.  I wasn't sure with the heat of the base if reg Elmer's glue would work.

I think it should be OK. The very bottom doesn't seem to get as hot as the top, so it should be ok.
