Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

So the aladdin on ebay just went for 525, and it supposedly had bad wax. However it only had two bids. Does that mean the value of these is has gone way up, or it was just a unique situation?

Does anyone have a lamp collection they have insured?

Nope - I offered the seller a $150 BIN offer and I am sure they will take it.

Did someone say Atlantis?

Looks like everyone is waiting until the last minute and then all hell is going to break loose with the bidding.

Can't wait to see what it goes for.

What is a Spooktacular?  It sounds cool.

Yep. Puccilover and Andre_Henretta are the two that have been kicking the shit out of eBay auctions lately. Oh wellz.

The other colletor is puccilover

Yep, I've confirmed this. I had wanted to know who the mystery bidders were and it didn't occur to me to check the seller feedback and look for the member who left the feedback for that item. BINGO - now you know who your bidder is. I mean, there's nothing else to know, but now I know who I'm up against instead of o***c!

Apparently there's a new lava and glitter collector out there named "Andre" who has very deep pockets. If you see a lamp going for some crazy price, chances are he is the buyer.

And it hits $1000.  I am completely shukied by this one.  Especially shuked considering it appears one of the bidders already has one (you know who you are).  I realize its in the box and all, but the box is not gold plated.

Here's another one. A series 800 Continental. Typically goes for around $100. This one is up to $700 with 4 days to go. That's twice what I paid for a Music Box, and nearly as much as I paid for my Imperial.

This bidding madness happened about 6 years ago when a few hard core bidders decided that they both wanted to own every vintage lava lamp on the planet. Instead of enjoying the hobby, their egos demanded that they create an instant colection so others could "ooo' and "ahh" over their vast collections!

I'm guessing that this current bidder recently came into some money. I'm predicting that he will burn out in a year or so.

I really don't get it either. I am shocked as well.

I can't believe you people. How can you say that you're shocked by the $1000 price tag? This lava lamp is made out of a Mad Dog 20/20 bottle LOLOLOLOLOL. For all you folks who are not from the USA, Mad Dog 20/20 is some of the finest wine spirits in the country. I think if I'm spending $1000 for a lamp, it has to be for a Colossus, Imperial or a couple Lunars.

Same hear - if I was to spend this much money I would get something more impressive then this lamp. I do understand that it is rair and it looks really good and would be a investment etc. For me its not worth itIi would want something of a spectial for 1000 dollars not a  collectors item that is more of a talking point to other collectors rather then something that you can think wow that was worth spending a grand on.

$1800. Shiatsu!

That's it! I'm posting my Music Box, Empress, and Imperial on e-Bay!! I should get about $20,000 for them judging by the prices being paid by this these two bidders!

Just kidding....
