Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

So the aladdin on ebay just went for 525, and it supposedly had bad wax. However it only had two bids. Does that mean the value of these is has gone way up, or it was just a unique situation?

Does anyone have a lamp collection they have insured?

Here's another one. A series 800 Continental. Typically goes for around $100. This one is up to $700 with 4 days to go. That's twice what I paid for a Music Box, and nearly as much as I paid for my Imperial.

This bidding madness happened about 6 years ago when a few hard core bidders decided that they both wanted to own every vintage lava lamp on the planet. Instead of enjoying the hobby, their egos demanded that they create an instant colection so others could "ooo' and "ahh" over their vast collections!

I'm guessing that this current bidder recently came into some money. I'm predicting that he will burn out in a year or so.

Lol kira - who needs cloths when you have lava
it seams to me that they are just die hard colectors who are probably loded and will do anything to get the lamp
they are also probably the kind of people who will keep it boxed up and use it only verry ochangly if at all

if they are willing to pay over the odds do you recken I could get away with selling them my mettalic peace lamp - I could get 50-100 quid for it lol

You guys are making assumptions about somebody that you know nothing about except the money they are spending on lamps. Sounds a bit like you guys are jealous. ;)

There's another Wave Machine just listed as a Buy it Now for $500.  I have never seen so many Wave Machines listed before.  It seems that people are starting to list them now based on that current pricing and are coming out of the woodwork with them.  Crazy!

There is no way I'm jealous of someone overpaying for a lamp I 1) already have and 2) will find in the future for a fraction of that price. ;)

Ditto.  My interest is more one of fascination.  Like watching a train wreck.

Like I said its the THUNDERDOME!

I'm focused on the Atlantis wave machine now, if these guys see this, its all over lol.

true.. and hell no Im not jealous.. perhaps a bit frustrated that the whole scenario keeps me clean out the bidding game on any of these lamps  but  C'est la vie..

and too bad I didn't like my damn wave machines so much or I would be wondering like Fog Rider is on his Mystique's.

Doc you are to funny....

I am not jealous at all that people are going way over the top, i just think the whole situation is quite amasuing as there is a select fue who are just jacking the price up and we are just watching it happen.

Hmmm....  I assume it's only wrong if someone else makes assumptions? hehe
