When I first got this lamp It had the coil embedded vertically in the lava. I plugged it in and t worked fine then started acting up. I got this lamp from Goodwill and I am trying to figure out why this lamp is doing this

it might be over heating try a frosted bulb or a dimmer.
k thanks
Is it a normal sized 20 oz. lamp? What wattage bulb are you using?
what bulb are you using in it, it appears to be overheating
How long are you running it? What bulb? Oftentimes, these issues will resolve with running the lamp several times.
A clear 40w and I think at most I have ran 8 hrs, most of the time though its about 5 or 6hrs. It started working like normal last night but I don't know if that is a one time thing or not yet as I have not turned it on tonight
If its a 20 oz, a 40 watt is WAY too ho. Try a 25 watt instead
what size globe is it 20oz, 32oz. If you are not sure, post a picture of it next to a pop can and someone can tell you. Or measure the height
Thats a wizard. 32oz. Use a clear 40 watt bulb. Bend the bulbs arm as high as you can and sit the globe on top. That may help.
Yeah thats what I was thinking, it looks like its under heated not over.
