Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

"...I wonder if the lamps I'm customizing have a 52oz or 250oz model? I would LOVE to find one of those!"

The more I get into motion lamps, the bigger I'm inclined to go. The 52oz century that I'm (hopefully) about to get will be my biggest lamp so far. I want a grande!

But back to cylinder-shaped lamps...as a lot of people here know, I kinda love them. I tried to imagine a 250oz one of these, then the next day I see this on ebay:

I'm afraid I have to have that.

I'm also afraid that I will NOT have that, as it's listed on ebay for $400. :-/

But it's 20 inches tall! Considering how short the base is, that's gotta be a 250oz globe on there.

WANT. SO. BAD.

Didn't someone already post something about this style lamp on here? I know I saw something like it, but I assumed it was the flared version of the same 32oz model that I have...now I don't think that is the case. I think the original poster was asking "what is this?" or something, but I've searched and searched, and I can't find it.

Does anybody know what this is, where it's from, etc?

AWESOME! Thanks, you guys! Man, I love this place... LOL!

Oh and I sent you a friend invite so I could PM you, Jim. :)

Funkey bases Wizzard, I saw / know there is one of thies in a charity shop - it looked quite bad so I said I would leave it to somone else.

The globes were exactly like the ones you have wizzard - if they were coulerd then I would get it.

400 bucks is a real rip off for one of thies - Loren see if they are still being made as it would be quite cool to customise.

You read my mind! I definitely want to put a goo kit in one of these!.

I think you have the medium-sized version, and I think I have the small size! Mine is 20oz, I believe that yours and some other ones I've seen are the 32oz (16 inch) size which is still really nice, and there's also the big 20 inch one, apparently!

Here's mine...along with a rocket I thought was a Telstar. This site has really helped me since then and still does in IDing lamps. Great reference site. <3

Mine is most likely the big 20 inch one.  I have very large feet.

LOL!

Well if you will sell me the dust lamp, I will love to have it. :) I can't pay $400.00 though....@_@

mine is the size of the big one in the middle (im not good a judging volume lol) i think mine must have the wrong top on it cuz it is a liquidteck. prob why its only measures 18 1/2 inches. it has a china lamp lid (not pop type cap) and its really wide

These made by Enhance Liquidteck  and also sold as Oozy Glow lamps. They were made in 16" and 20" and in black, chrome, and psychedelic black light reflective bases. I have 3 like this --

Apparently I'm no good at judging it either! lol Not to mention the fact that you already said it was bigger than a 32oz.

Also, those lamps are really neat! Is that fimo on there??

Ok, I now have a penultimate lava dream.

And I'm going to do it one day...somehow. A kind soul will hopefully help me out with part of it. :)

Here goes.

I want to put THIS globe...

With THIS base and cap...that will be the nearly impossible part, I'm afraid. :(

That was originally posted by Marcel. I'm not even totally sure that the two bottles are interchangeable, but I strongly suspect that they are. But could you imagine? That "excaliber" looks amazing as it is (I don't like the proportions of excalibers very much normally...the base and cap make the globe seem tiny to me!), but a taller globe would, to me, make this the ultimate larger size for the model of Chinese lamp that I've been working with. The foot of the base seems a bit wide to me, proportionally, but with a globe that size, I'd be glad for as much stability as I could get...especially if I added a good 5-6 inches to its height!

Sigh...I'll likely never find that base and cap. :(

...Come to think of it, I remember thinking I'd never find another "wa-mu" lamp...and now here I am with (almost) 100 of them! LOL! I want it so bad that I would consider trying to fabricate a base like that out of aluminum piping and a jeweler's saw. I don't know how I'd do the bottom of the base, but damn...I want that lamp bad. :p

I think the problem with your plan will be globe diameter.  I do believe the Excalibur globe has a bigger circumference than the green glitter globe.  I will shoot you some pics tonight or tomorrow.  My globe looks to be in excellent condition.

Ah...it was hard for me to tell, but you may be right. :(

That sucks, but maybe I can make a base out of aluminum tubing...?

Mine is 20 inches from tip to base. 3 1/2 inches thick.

Um, you are still talking about lamps, right??
