Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

hi,

just picked up a fluidium on ebay.

naturally it arrived with the bulb blown - inevitable for the royal mail.

it's a 40w golf ball bulb with the bottom half silvered - is that considered necessary?

my astro uses a 40w totally clear bulb - is it safe to use that or does it have to be a silvered one?

thanks!

I don't think it matters that much, 40w should be ok but the newer fludiums have a halogen bulb unfourantly though they overheat very quickly so if your using this then a dimmer is advised.

I have tryed running a fludium on a 40w golf ball lamps and it hasn't run that well (i.e. hasn't got hot enough) but my fluidum globes are the newer ones so mabie the formula is designed to run at a higher temp.

A reflector is needed or the plastic surrounding it will melt. It also wont flow right without one.

I agree with autumn, the golf ball will melt the plastic. Plus it bleeds so much light out thru the base.
