Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I've picked up an old Century and it has pretty lousy flow.  Is there any hope for it or would I need to goo kit it?

You can see it in this video (on a coachlite base w/ a 40w bulb):

put it on a dimmer, it's too hot

I'll give it a try, but it pretty much goes straight to this state.  It's not like it warms up, flows normally and then ends up like this.

Interesting...

I have the dimmer at about just under 50% (when it was just over 50%, the flow was close to before) and now the flow is better, but the light is very very dim.

Could you use a R39 30w bulb + dimmer that may work.

Also what globe do you have on there, has the globe done this before and have you changed it in any way.

The globe is a red/yellow from a century.  I can't remember if I ran it on the century base it came with.  When I saw it flowing like this I put it on my other coachlite base (which works fine with a different red/yellow globe), but it did the same thing there.  I put it back on the previous coachlite base and swapped out the 60w bulb for a 40w with pretty much the same results.

Is it a USA globe?

I think its a issue with the globe / formular I don't know what exactly but it could be too much surf so mabie try replacing the water or you may have to get a new globe for it as it looks like it could be a bad globe.

If it's on a 60 watt bulb it's gonna be too hot.  I have a white wax/blue that I run on a 60 because it just domes on a 40, but it does get too hot and will over heat if left on too long

I would assume it is a USA globe.  The base is old enough to have a brown cord.

Would a 30w bulb be any different than a 40w bulb dimmed to 30w?
