Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

My new Heritage neon green Grande just came and I can't wait to plug it up, but there's a cardboard covering over what is probably the dimmer switch wires up the inside wall of the base.   It's right next to that 100 watt bulb, but it looks like it's on there really good.   Am I supposed to take that off?   Sorry for the dumb question.  I don't want or need a fire, but this cardboard cover is fixed in there really good and when I barely pulled on it, it don't move.   I've never seen this and don't know what to do about it.

I'll post some pics of all lamps when I get them going.  All bases are perfect, the globes are too, and all are perfectly clear!!   I'm very happy!

Thank you for your reply, LampHead.   I had to ask, since I didn't know.   That item is still exactly where it was, and all is well with the lamp.  I appreciate your all's help!  ;-)

The cardboard is a electrical insulator and needs to be on the dimmer. Perfectly normal and has been on every dimmer I have installed.

Critter, I stayed up all night watching the Grande going from huge sideways blob to pure perfection!!!   I took pictures but not sure they are very good, since it was dark in here.   Just buy the neon green Grande and the Pink.   Mine is gorgeous and flows just like Erin's pink.   First runs were very disappointing for the Wizard and Century, but to the Wizard's credit, it did run, albeit very boring flow.   The Century is worse.  I'm going to give both of those lamps another chance and have just turned them back on.   I am not impressed, except for the red Wizard base/cap.   One of my US bottles will be going on that puppy if it don't straighten up and fly right.   I'm not sure there's much hope for this Century.   The globe is not good, dried wax is all over the inside and that huge blob of wax stays in the top after it spikes and breaks off.   It is not overheating at that point in time.   It just has no flow.   Buy the Grandes.   I'll post more about the Wizard and Century after giving them more break-in time.

Well I think I'll just be getting a grande...... I didn't have much faith to start with..... so it's not to disappointing
