Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Hi all.

Yesterday I have got a Mathmos Heritage Astro Black with Clear-Turquoise liquid.
It's the second lamp that I've bought in my life, so I'm a total ignorant on the "lavalamp" subject, and that's why I'm here.

It's very nice, well build and with a great wax flow dynamics.

But there is a thing that worry me a bit.
I have turn the lamp on just two times for 6 hours each time, and I can see inside the wax many little (2-8mm) bubbles of water.

Is that normal?
They will disappear or what?

Hello and welcome to OG! Could you post a picture of the wax so we can see how many bubbles to tell of it's normal or not?

Usually it is normal to have a few (small) bubbles in the wax, with running time they will all go away and stay away apart from a couple here and there, as long as they're small 2-6mm then that's fine and normal, with more run time the bubbles will go away. Now what is NOT normal is medium and big water bubbles all over the wax that won't go away, this sometimes happens to older lamps but nobody really knows exactly why or what causes it.

In your case it's probably totally normal, just a few bubbles that will go away as you cycle the lamp more and more. Just don't run it past the 6 hours they recommend. I run my astro up to 8 sometimes but usually just 6 hours.

I think it will be fine with some more cycles.  At this point it looks pretty normal.

thank you for your reply ^^

Looks normal to me too, keep cycling it normally and they should all go away

If your having issues with Mathmos globes then i would just return it, you may have just got a duff one - Mathmos has been improving there quality recently - the new lamps are fantastic

I don't think Mathmos do codes like lava lite does.

I cannot check the id number on my bottle right now, but here are some new picture of my lamp.

Seems getting better to me.
What do you think?

Also, I think one problem could be the temperature in my room.
18,5°-19,5° C

my bottle code is 50001

Anyway here's a low quality video of my lamp, made just for fun.

I would keep it. Besides the bubbles it is beautiful, but I love mathmos and can't get them in the USA without spending over 50 dollars on shipping.
