I found this on another thread somewhere a while ago and ended up ordering a few for my lamp-building projects. The glass is perfect; no air bubbles or "warbles". Each comes with a coil as well. The post I found this link on suggested that the globes are 52oz but they are, in fact, 32oz. Anyway, for the price (not to mention $5 shipping) this is a pretty good deal, especially if any of you gookitters have extra product.

It's funny; I ordered these and a gookit on the same day. I got my globes within 4 days and here (2 weeks out) my gookit has yet to arrive even though shipping was 80% of what I paid for the kit lol Here's hoping the kit arrives soon so I can get to work on these projects!

The grande bottle manufacturer is in china, so I'd assume they would have a huge minimum order. The american made grande like lamps, the giants, had the bottles made in Germany (not 100% sure). It might be possible to contact that manufacturer, but I don't have any idea how to even begin to find out who the manufacturer was. I would love to know though. Another thing about the 32 oz bottles that have the coils with them: would the coil be suitable to add to the v2 heritage grande to possibly improve the flow?

I do believe you are correct about Giant globes being sourced from Germany (same with US made Colossus "Humungous" globes).  I would think the coils would be perfectly suitable.  You can always slightly stretch them to match the diameter of a 52 ounce coil, but that likely isn't even necessary.  The biggest key is they are designed to be lava lamp coils, thus likely not any of this zinc coated crap.  Should be that stainless steel coil you are looking for.  That being said, these globes are pretty much worth the asking price for the coil alone.

The bottles at American Science and Surplus are US made glass old stock from LavaLite. Some had coils, some did not.

Below is information I have collected over the years from various sources... US made lamps only.....

The 32oz and 52oz bottles came from two different sources
Kimble Glass in Warsaw, Indiana
Owens Illinois in both Perrysburg, Ohio and Toledo, Ohio

The bottles caps were all from
Crown Cork & Seal in Aurora, Illinois

The wax was indeed.....Crayola
Crayola in Easton, Pennsylvania
I was told from time to time other batches were from other manufacturers but the majority supplier was Crayola.

The original Giant and Humungo globes were made in Germany (manufacture unknown)

The 32oz, 52oz, Giant and Humungo bases were made by
Chicago Lighting Supply
I was told they were the sole supplier from the late 70's until 1997 or 1998 when LavaWorld moved the 32oz and 52oz bases to a China supplier. Chicago Lighting made all of the Giant and Humungo bases.
