Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Okay im sure someone on here knows when lava went from a painted plastic cap to the aluminum cap on the 32oz globes. I found two sliver streak lamps at goodwill this past week and both are plastic caps with a date of sept of '96. Another sliver streak of mine with the metal cap is dated Dec of '96. Now I realize the caps I got with the lamps could be different but im curious when lava went from plastic to metal. I also included pics.

I think it was just a random thing as most Silver Streaks were a metal cap. I also have a few of the painted silver plastic caps, both I think were white plastic painted silver. That leads me to believe they were laying around for the later Princess line after they switched from screw tops. They probably did it when they were low on metal caps. I have also seen variations on the Electrik line. Most were color matched plastic except the lime and yellow, although some of the yellows did come with a plastic cap but its color was lighter than the base and didnt match very well.
