it needs to run on a dimmer and there is some rust from the coil in the wax.  it would be a good globe to refurbish.

I just might be interested, how bad does it overheat? And is the wax in decent shape?

it overheats on a 40w bulb for sure.  the wax is not that great (imo), but it flows.  the liquid is clear.  i'll heat it up tonight and post a pic.

Oh ok that would be great. I want it for my Clearview if it massively overheats. Sound funny, but the USA 32oz flow very nicely on the Clearview when they really overheat on a normal base.

I'm still thinking about it. The lamp looks pretty great to me! Just out of curiosity, did it come with the starship base? Where did you get it?

it came with a midnight base, and i got it off ebay a few months ago.  i would love to filter it and replace the white wax, but i just don't have the time or supplies.
