Hi,
this is for my Living Jewel Lunar bottle.
I actually have a regular E27 R80 100w bulb sets to the minimum of the dimmer (just when it switches on).
The lamp run well, not too hot, but light is low.
I heard the "eco halogen" bulbs (the one filled with xenon) run colder than other bulbs (but is it colder than other halogen bulbs, or colder than regular bulbs?) and give more light.
Anyone tried this?
Other idea? (must be dimmable)
thanks

Nobody?
What about fluocompact bulbs?
Do they emit any heat ?
I heard they produce a little heat, but is it enough to run glitter? (I don't have any so I can't try)
Thanks.
POol spa bulbs are quite bright and run a lava lamp really well
Thanks but if they run a lava lamp well, they'll be too hot for my fast glitter bottle.
ITs actually a lot cooler than normal Grande bulbs my Grande just happens to run really well
I need something barely hot. (the small bottles run on 15w).
But I need much more light as my bottle is big.
Samantha - not all glitter lamps are created equal. This is for a Mathmos Lunar, so your perspective should be what type of bulb would heat a glitter globe approximately the size of a Giant/Grande.

20 to 40 Should work then my glitter lamps run on 15 watts
I finally tried a fluocompact bulb: 15w= 65w (800lumens)
Very bright and just barely hot enough to run the lamp.
So now I think I can safely run this lamp for hours without being afraid the flakes turn translucent as it happens sometime with the Living Jewel lamps.
The only problem is I can't use anymore the glass disc Christian gave me to change colors (it cuts heat going to the bottle and it doesn't run well with it).
Without it, the bottle is pure white (I chose 6500°K bulb) and maybe too bright...
Well, I guess I'll have to continue my quest for the perfect bulb :-)
Update:
since last year, I had run a normal 40W bulb in my Living Jewel Lunar.
It was OK, not too hot, but not very bright.
I just put an Eco Halogen bulb: 46W (supposed to be as bright as regular 60W bulb).
It is indeed brighter than the normal 40w bulb, and run a little cooler.
I think Eco halogen is a good solution for any glitter lamps, as you may know: heat is not good for glitter.
I will try the next step with a 57W (supposed to light like a 75W normal bulb).
And if not too hot, I may even try the 77W...
I just checked with a pyrometer:
My Lunar bottle is at the same temperature as the Living Jewel I'm running on a regular 15W bulb!
So there is still some space to experiment with bigger bulbs until I reach the temperature of a regular 25W bulb (the one that came on this lamp from factory /they started with a 40w on early ones, but it was too hot).
That's great news!
