Everybody is so ingenious on here with doing things and this may be a stupid question, but does anyone have an accurate way to mark one of these types of dimmer's?? I finally have it adjusted where the flow on my kitted lamp is the way I like it, but I'm sure I won't get it back to that spot again!!! It's either too hot, too fast, too slow. I think someone mentioned a piece of tape so the slider won't slide past that point, but then again if you want it to you're back to square one.

I would take a black marker and mark the sweet spot
I tried to do that before and accidently made the slider go up, lol!!! I'm just going to mark the side like in the middle of the button. Do they have dimmers that actually have numbers on them. So like you would know 1, 2, 3, and so on? Even those ones on line I think are sliders.
We marked it with a sharpie and i'm pretty close to the sweet spot, but according to how long the lamp has been running, I still find that I have to adjust it anyway, so, it's not a big deal. I'm just one of those exact science persons, but some things just aren't exact sciences!!! lol
With this type of dimmer it's really hard to mark a sweet spot. The electric currents can vary at anytime when using one. One day it's perfect spot the next day not. I would suggest a dimmer with numbers. They are more reliable but hard to find. Try ebay. I have these exact dimmers and they are not as reliable and I've noticed they get hot when on.
J, I thought I was crazy. Why do they change up like that? OMG, I have sharpie spots all over. I surfed the web for dimmers with actual numbered dials and you are correct. They are hard to find. I keep finding the slider ones. I'll check amazon and ebay. Also, mine do get warm, but one of the other members (sorry, I have a hard time keeping track of what knowledge I get from whom), said if you only use one per lamp it isn't too bad. I noticed that they don't get as warm that way. He also said that these dimmers are made for standard table lamps and I guess pushing them for our lava's which run really hot stresses them out. I don't know. I don't like electric, won't play with it. It terrifies me. lol!!
I really need to find a more accurate one for my son's lamp. He is just turning 15 and I don't think he will be anal in playing with the slider type, lol!!
