Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Hello everyone!

I've picked up a cloudy red/violet grande recently made by Lava Lite.
I replaced liquid and it's basically tuned, but I have a problem...

Lamp is on for about ~2 days now and wax still isn't fully melted!

There's a 100W reflector bulb mounted in it's base just like manufacturer recommendation on a sticker.
I've also had problem with wax separating from coil, but I fixed it already and I have two coils inside now - the original one and a smaller - from some small chinese lamp.

It's my first Grande, any suggestions what I should do?

First thoughts:

1. Is the lamp bulb withing 1/4 to 1/2 inch of the globe? (.635 to 1.27 cm)

2. Is the room cold?

3. Is there a draft on the lamp?

1. Just measured this - there's about 2cm of space between top of the bulb and globes bottom. Too much?
2. I've got about 23C here. Optimal I think
3. Draft? You mean gaps here and there where hot air may „leak”? Nope, lamp is completely sealed.

2 cm is probably OK, by draft I mean is there air movement across the lamp.  Such as from a heating or cooling unit, or a fan.  You might need to get a higher wattage bulb and use a dimmer to control the heat level.

Ok, I understand now. No, there's no such air movement - lamp has been moved a few times and it doesn't affected it's performance. I will try to tune liquid more :)

Ok, but from the picture the wax isn't melting fully.  If you have spare bulbs you might try a different one or as above, use a higher wattage bulb.

I tweaked liquid a bit and lamp started to flow. It seems this lamp needs moving wax to spread heat in the globe. But now I've got another problem...

It looks like wax got separated into two parts - one sits on the bottom and flows normally, but the other stays on top of the globe and don't want to sink anymore. Even when lamp is cooled down there's no way to make it sink... What should I do? I've tried to remelt the wax after pouring out liquid but with no luck.
