Hi -
I'm fairly new here - I always wanted a lava lamp when I was a kid, but never had one:(
However, over the last year, I have picked up quite a few of them at garage sales and thrift shops. I'm keeping a few of them, and some I"m selling - and for sure I'm selling this Cranky one...clowns creep me out:)
Anyway, there seems to have been a leak at sometime in the globe. What should I do - get a new globe, sell just the base or sell it with the one I have and hope it doesn't leak anymore?

Well, you could just sell the base because if the globe is leaking there isn't much that anyone can really do with it anyway. Or you can post it up like "globe is leaking, if you want it anyway, it will be included, if not base only". But if you are shipping it, I wouldn't recommend shipping it full. I'd empty it first because it's going to leak during transit and make a messl Although, if it is just leaking from around the lid it could mean that it was opened at one time and the cap wasn't property and securely closed. Just be honest. The buyer will let you know what they want.
I would sell it without the globe. You're only asking for problems if the seller complains. But do include the red globe cover so that Cranky is complete.
Thank you for your reply!
I think I'll just keep it simple and sell just the base -
Being this is the first time I am selling a lava lamp and the fact that the only solds I can find for the Cranky lamp has included the globe - can anybody give me a ballpark "fair" price for it?
Thank you
Kim
I would say for a collector the base and cap are much more desirable. For a few years in the 90's bases were sold seperately from the globe so you could mix and match. Personally I have spare globes and look more for bases that I don't have to add to the collection.
