Clearing up 2 Grande Lava Lamps

So our band uses 2 of the Grande Lava lamps on stage and the are both pretty cloudy. One doesn't flow very well either. I do have the proper bulbs in them. What's the best way to clear them up and get them flowing properly ? 

PS: I'd love nothing more than to build a 4' tall lamp to go along with our 5' tall working bong named "Bongzilla"

Theres a 40" tall vase that you can order 6" or 8" diamater, im working on the water in my 8" one. It holds around 6 gallons so i hope i can get it flowing
