Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Hi all,

I just recently did a goo kit in a 52oz globe. I followed the Goo kit How To to do it. All I am getting for action after two runs on a 40 watt bulb is a dome, if I pop in a 60 watt I get a bit more action out of if but still it's mostly just a pillar that doesn't break off and sometimes barely makes it to the top of the globe. Right now I am pretty close to 17ml of surf and don't really wanna add more although I supposed I could just remove some fluid and add straight distilled to thin it out a bit. Any ideas and what's going on? Bad goo maybe?

Thank in advance.

More surf may help, what do you mean about taking some water out and adding distilled water to it as that's what the water should only be.

The other thing that may help is adding some of the epson salt and water mix or adding some PG to it to increase the density of the water - that may improve the flow.

Taking out some of the distilled/surf mix and replacing it with straight distilled is what I ment. I went the route of adding epsom salt to the mix pinch at a time to get it flowing, it's a slow work in progress but it is flowing on the stock 40 watt bulb now. I have a second globe that I did with the one in the video that ended up with a bit too much epsom so I think I am going to take some of the distilled/surf/epsom mix down to a level that doesn't spit out millions of tiny balls of wax like it's doing now, but again it will be a slow work in progress. I have a couple 32 oz globes to do next to fine tune doing goo kits before I try the Grande I ordered from Spencers that came in cloudy.

It does take time to agust the globes to a good flow. Taking water out and replacing it with just DI water is really a option if you have added too much of the epson salt for example. If it flows well with a lot of surf then i would just leave it - no need to change something that works etc.

Well right now it's at the point of flowing pretty good but when the balls of wax float back down to the bottom they just sit on top of the melted wax and bounce around on top of it. Takes them awhile to melt enough to reabsorb into the melted mass.
