I could not resist purchasing another Pink/Purple Grande for only $70 w/free shipping. ( good deal )

I am going to use it to fill an empty Lunar bottle.

I did the same. LOL

I'm thinking of doing the same reverse,

The blue glitter grande I got is terribly faded, (I've colored it 2x now) so I'd use the green glitter fluid from the lunar and replace it with a grande or goo kit

Is the same fluid in the lunar the same oz as a grande?

Are there any reg LUNAR bottles available from members?

Would like to get the taller one  but the budget wont allow right now

Hey Claude,
Unfortunately a Lunar bottle only contains approx. 150 oz while a Grande contains 250 oz.
If your faded blue glitter is the same formula you should be able to combine 100 oz of it with the green glitter from your Lunar bottle to fill a Grande.
My purple glitter Lunar bottle looks to similar to my red one now so I am going to remove the purple glitter and replace it with approx. 3/5 the contents of a Purple/Pink Grande.
I should have more than enough remaining to fill an empty Jet bottle as well.
I am hoping that the LL lava flows as good in smaller bottles as it does in a Grande.
I believe that these type of bottles will work on a Lunar -

WOW! thats one big-ass scotch bottle!

Are you for certain it fits the lunar with that long neck?

Also, I only found one bottle without the name embossed into the glass.

Adding 100oz of the old fluid may dampen the green color

Its kirk's glitter so,.?  I would assume its the same formula

It needs more glitter to match the red one anyway

Had same problem with a few of his lamps changing to red- Level rose to high and melted into the expansion cap and dyed the fluid. he made good on them.

I scored a new grande for $30 with shipping at a liquidator on ebay

I thought for sure it as cloudy or dented so I bought it for parts at that price

its fine!

the one I paid retail price for came dented and cloudy! go figure..

On the big Scotch bottles for Lunar bases, I was warned that some have been known to crack with the heat, I don't know more but thought I'd mention it.

Can anyone out there confirm or deny it? No personal experience of this....

Maybe if you stick to 75w?  (I'm talking UK bulbs/voltage, these were the original Lunar bulbs, and some say the best....)

duly noted

Unfortunately, I can't remember exactly who told me that those Whisky bottles would work on a Lunar.

I personally do not have any experience using them.

You do not have to change the 100 watt light bulb on your Lunar as you can simply use the dimmer switch to lower the output instead.

Your Green glitter is Kirk's formula as well.

If your blue glitter liquid is as faded as you say then 100 oz of it should not have that large of an impact on the Green fluid color.

It might just lighten the shade of the green somewhat. ( that might be good as I felt it was a little too dark green to begin with )

I tried goo kitting a Lunar bottle once but I was not happy with the results and I do not use Goo kits anymore.

I think attempting to fill a Lunar bottle for only $70.00 is much better than paying for goo kits or for a new Mathmos Lunar bottle which would cost substantially more with shipping from the UK ;)

Obviously you will need a clear good flowing Grande to attempt this.

Maybe you just got very unlucky with the cloudy Grande that you received,

I only purchase Grandes during the Winter when it is cold outside.

Shipping lava while it is warm can definitely cause cloudiness.

I have been very pleased with the quality/clarity of the last 6 Grandes I have purchased.

If you purchase from the LL website it will be shipped from Chicago which I assume is very close to your location in IL.

Yeah, I might just wait for funds and get the taller 150% bottle,

I see bases and caps for sale ocasionally so,..?

Maybe I'll ask kirk to send me green dye (and a few expansion caps) just in case and use the remainder if the current grande in a couple 52's?

Location to LL

Yes! Susan get them to me usually next day.

She was a lifesaver on several occasions

I sent her custom gift basket last year

I always get perfect customer service

Once a 50th anny arrived cloudy and dented and another was sent out immediately

So that 1 gallon whiskey bottle I saw today for $20 is a bargain?

Sure it was a bargain, Keith, if it was full...

Finally got through to a glassmaker I know, he confirms a giant whisky bottle is very unlikely to be made of borosilicate glass (more expensive) so might well crack under heat. Sorry to be killjoy.
