Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I have this old lamp, stored in the attic for years, that I tried to get going again. There was an air gap so I thought I'd top up the liquid. You know what's coming. After doing a little googling I thought topping up with parrafin lamp oil would do the trick but the wax has now floated to the top. Not good. So does anyone have an idea what has happened to the mix?

Hi Astrobaby

That flowoflava site is amazing. I had no idea there were so many different lamps made or still available. I'm uploading a photo of my lamp which appears to be an original copper finish Astro Mini. I've decanted the contents until I can find a solution to the problem. I was hoping that there was a way of making the wax heavier or the liquid lighter to get it working again...
I've just looked at your profile and realised you did that site. I'm mightly impressed.
