dawn is good as a first clean of the globe.'
It cut grease and wax residue
also works well for cleaning coils
Not good for much else, although even if you had left some in, it does not cloud your globe. You have something else Going on there.
Surf is just for cutting surface tension and letting you change the properties of the goo from bubbles to stringie goo
and,..
You should use a solution of it for coating the inside of the globe, prior to adding the heated wax so it doesn't stick to the sides
Toss out the epson salt idea, if you want cloudy fluid, then use it
if you want to change specific gravity (and you need to unless your using a goo kit), use propelyne glycol
it should be @ a 60/40 or 70/30 mix depending on the vintage of the goo your using

Make sure you reach at least 125degF between each amount of Propelyne glycol you add, so you can get an accurate reading on flotation
and start over,(Sounds like something else is contaminating the mix) dump fluid, save wax, wash globe with dawn, add surf coating, add wax,let cool, then add mix of propleyne glycol and distilled water
