Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I found an older screw cap aristocrat at my local good will. When I got it home and set it next to my others the top portion is about half an inch taller. It is also he only lamp that has a power cord with out a switch on it I've ever gotten. Any idea why it's a different sized top half of the base?

Do you have a picture to post?

Hmm let me see if I can make it work from my cell.

Read the following.  Basic answer provided by Jonas, the taller bases are from approximately 1970 to 1972.

Yep. Rare find! I'd jump for joy if I found that at a Goodwill; I haven't found a vintage lamp in a local store in about 6 years.
