Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Hello to all the Mathmos fans, I wanted to share what I received today. 2 Mathmos Fluidium never opened since their launch in 2000.

I was shivering while opening the parcel, bubble wrap and then ..... The different pieces of the Fluidium

You can imagine that feeling right ?

It's not like opening a collector one alreaday used before, It was never opened, never used before me ... 19 years after they come alive.

I decided to open only one today, the OPAL one.

The wax is still cold but I am waiting, I did not know the bulb was blue either.

After so many years of watching the Fluidiums on the net and now open a brand new one is just a strange feeling going through my body, My heart is beating louder and my hands are still shivering.

Maybe I am crazy to feel that feeling don't you think ?

I wanted to share that unboxing with you :)

Hope you will love it as much as I do.

Thank you

Enjoy

Sam from France

Yes, I am interested in globe for the green one with the goo of course and yellow. I have an opal one and I just bought the orange one. I might need new official Mathmos clear fluid and maybe new white wax for the Opal one. The seller shipped the globe horizontally and it arrived super cloudy.

I put away in my closet and going to leave it in there for a week or two and hopefully it will clear up. Back in March my friend gave me a very cloudy Lava Lite globe to fix. I put it in my closet and forgot about it when midterms and the second half of the semster happened. Then after the school year ended in May I was looking through my closet and found the globe was now crystal clear and all on its own. I hoping this process will repeat with the Fluidium. After 36 hours it Fluidium still looks like Pasta water.

I would change the liquid if it was mine

Sad to see this :( I remember that feeling when opening a NOS boxed Lamp so well...total excitement and fingers crossed it's still in (at best) mint condition...often its not though. I bought quite a lot NOS astro metallics years ago...out of roughly 20 only two were mint...many were cloudy as hell ...as well as all three astro flocks I bought from sellers wo were straight liars...as NIB...I'd say the were NIBS...Not In Best Shape... The opal is such a nice lamp when new and still white etc...I hope you'll get it fixed and can enjoy it! if it didnt came with the glass heat shield(series 2 ad none) get one from marcel to avoid those nasty burn marks on the inside.

Thank you Arne, in fact I  had to refurbish them two bottles, and they are fine, salt and water only :)

Actually it was very clear in the listing. The problem is the seller put the bottle in packaging horizontally and then it was rushed to me in about four days. So it probably got all shook up. One week later it still looks like pasta water. Yes it came with the glass insert. I never knew that was a thing until I read this thread. I have been using my old green Fluidium without one for over a year.
