well mathmos told me they check out all of their lava lamps before they send them out. i have other bases could i try in in another one.?
i am trying to switch the lava lamp from the base i got with it to anotherone to try and see if that does anything...
well once i changed the base from the one that came with it to another base that i recently had from another lamp it worked with no problem i guess the base was defective.
If it's a UK lamp and you're not using a power converter maybe that's why the base isn't getting hot enough.

Presumably the base that it's working with is a US one?

I think an earlier post by Bohdan suggested that a step-up transformer is required:

'Go online thru google for step up transformers i got a few of them for the one i want to not change over to
I run 2 Astro globe thru them and they work very well . They run about $20.00 dollars and heat up the globe
very well. I have a white astro and metallic on them and they run very hot and flow nice'

If you are only using a plug adaptor, you most likely need the power converter too.

I JUST SWITCHED OUT TO ANOTHER BASE THAT I HAD FROM ONE OF MY OTHER LAVA LAMPS AND ITS WORKING FINE SOMETHING ABOUT THE MATHMOS BASE DOESNT WORK RIGHT.
As mentioned above, a power converter would be required in order to get the Mathmos base hot enough to warm the lava
