Funny theft story, what not to steal

I work for a transportation (freight) company in Illinois. Sunday night it was discovered that the terminal I work at had been broken into. The supervisor called the police and the companys security department for instructions. Monday were are in the office checking the theft and method onto the property, we discovered that the thiefs had cut a hole in the fence and had broken several locks on trailers. It was my job to follow up with the security department and get a $$$ value of the stolen freight, well this is where it gets funny.....the shipper was "LoJack"....yep them devices they put in cars to track them when they are stolen, my next call was to LoJack to see if the devices are even active when shipped, guess what...they are. LoJack has a internal battery that it runs off of if the cars electrical system is disabled and they are charged before leaving LoJack. LoJack activates the devices and 5 minutes later the police send their car with the LoJack tracker....this is the funny part, it hits multiple LoJack ID's 250 feet away. It turns out one of our "neighbors" was the thief, the police located 55 of 60 stolen devices in his garage, the other 5 are still missing but I think they will be found quickly :) Now 3 people are charged with "Interstate Theft" a federal charge.

Lesson learned....dont steal things that lead the police to you...LOL

that is damn funny right up there with a episode of America's dumbest criminals I saw years ago where a guy goes to rob a bank and realizes he didn't have a mask so the numbnuts buys shaving cream and puts it on his face which of course melted off while he was in the bank and sure enough he was caught in minutes

or then there was the guy or should I say stupid ass who went to visit his friend in jail and he wasn't aware of the visiting hours and he sits in front of the warden at his desk and reaches into his pocket and starts toking on a bowl...he ended up getting to spend time with his friend
