Over the years I have had plenty of globes that I have scrubbed the crap out of with scotch brite sponges, hot water, and soap but cannot get the smudgy residue off of them, especially near the base. After scrubbing I can still "smear" the residue with my finger.Recently I bought a ceramic that was most definitely from a smokers house, getting the smoke smell out of the base was tough, but the globe has been mostly unsuccessful in removing the residue.
