Sorry Anson, I'm not the one to ask. Only thing I ever heated my goo on was the base. I'm sure someone here has that answer for you though.

We have induction heaters here in my home. Will it make it safer?

I agree Vision. You gave good sound advice in that other thread. But we both know there are many with no common sense. They see...put it on a stove, in an oven and kaboom... without reading it thoroughly. Just want peeps to be careful is all. Peace out....

I would hate to hear that any of you guys died it would be worse if you got kiled by a lava lamp (the ironey).

We do have some young people on hear - I don't knock them but it should be known that this forum is adult based its not a kid zone.

It comes down to "Common Sense." Give good safe advice, take good safe advice. If someone can't do either, they are not safe breathing. They'll find some way to hurt themselves.

Well we obviously have some younger gooheads on here looking to fix their lamps. Just wanted to stress the dangers if not done correctly or properly researched. I would hate to see any fellow Lava Lover get hurt or worse, like this doowah who lost his life...

What this article does not specifically state:

This guy was heating the lamp *directly* on the heating coil of his stove.

That's right... it wasn't contained in a pool of water in a pan, but directly on a red hot heating element. He gets a "Darwin Award." If someone is dumb enough to do something "bass ackwards" they get hurt. Or, as in this case, they get dead.

Don't be stupid and you won't get hurt.

Yea heating lamps above there designed temp is dangerous, the least the lamp brakes the worst and you could be injured or in this case killed
ALLWAYS HAVE THE CAP OFF WHEN HEATING
I also were safety glasses when dealing with lamps and don't stand too close when super heating them.
