My NYE vacation has turned out to be a disaster. This past Wednesday my "Liquid Metal" metalic lava lamp exploaded after about a half hour of being on. It ruined 4 pillows and the large front window drapes which will now all have to be replaced ~$400.00 worth of damage. The carpet which can not be replaced as easily is also damaged.
For the past 3 days I've been trying to get the paint like oder of the oil out of the carpet with little progress. This is not a regular lava lamp, it seems to have 4 components, the oil, the wax, and the chemical that was used as a base for the metal flake in the wax and, the metal flakes. What I can't seem to remove is the chemical that was for the metal flakes. It smells like Testers metal flake silver model paint.
The color is out of the carpet but not the smell. I've used rug cleaner, shout wipes, and Dawn dish washing soap as well as water. I've used multiple paper towels as well as real towels which have all been thrown out.
How do I do this?
Thanks in advance.

why did your lamp explode? How? Was it over heated..I will call the manufacture and tell them what happened!
I'd just call a carpet cleaning service and let them do it right the 1st time. Once you add too many chemicals to the soup, you may make it worse.
